Stanford University International Student Insurance

Stanford University, located in Stanford, California, is one of the world’s top private research universities. It was founded in 1885 by former California Governor Leland Stanford and his wife, Jane Lathrop Stanford, in honor of their only son, Leland Jr., who died of typhoid fever in 1884. The school opened its doors to students on Oct. 1, 1891.

Stanford has an enrollment of more than 16,000 students, 2,000 faculty, and counting. Its colors are cardinal and white, and though the school doesn’t have an official mascot, its sports teams are referred to as the “Stanford Cardinal.”

On and Near Campus

The university’s proximity to Silicon Valley gives the school a close relationship with cutting-edge, innovative companies like Apple, Google, and Yahoo! Many alumni have found success in the business world; companies whose founders or co-founders attended Stanford include HP Inc., Nike, Capital One, and more.

Notable Alumni

Stanford is also the alma mater of such famous names as Elon Musk, Tiger Woods, Larry Page, Sandra Day O’Connor, John Steinbeck, and U.S. President Herbert Hoover. The school has more than 200,000 alumni and growing spread across all 50 states and 158 countries and territories worldwide.

Study Abroad Insurance for Stanford

Every year, more than 5,000 international students apply from more than 150 countries. If accepted and approved for an F1 student visa, these students will need to acquire the correct insurance to meet Stanford’s student insurance requirements before they can register for classes.
