Loyola Marymount University International Student Insurance
Loyola Marymount University, located in Los Angeles, California, was established in 1973 after the merging of Loyola University (founded as St. Vincent’s College in 1865) and Marymount College (founded in 1933). LMU is a private Catholic research university and one of the largest Catholic universities on the U.S. West Coast. The school is sponsored by three religious organizations: the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, the Society of Jesus, and the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. Today, the school boasts an annual enrollment of almost 10,000 and counting. LMU’s colors are crimson and blue, and its athletic nickname is the lions.
On Campus
LMU has received recognition for several of its academic programs. Its film and television school consistently ranks among the top in the nation; its 35,000-square-foot facility offers soundstages, editing labs, a theater, and camera equipment. Similarly, in business, its part-time MBA program has been ranked in the top 10 in the country and #1 among private schools in the west region. The School of Education offers four undergraduate and nine graduate degrees, including a doctoral program. LMU also operates the Loyola Law School in downtown L.A.
