The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS)—which was developed by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) created by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB—is an extensive set of technical and operational standards that a company needs to follow to ensure that all companies that process, store, or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment.
There are many stringent requirements, including but not limited to:
PCI DSS has six major objectives, 12 key requirements, 78 base requirements, and over 400 test procedures. Click here for more information.
When a business is PCI-compliant, it means that that the business reviews and follows the guidelines set forth by the credit card companies to help ensure your credit card information is protected and your personal information is secure.
In another step toward all major destinations in Europe now being open to visit with no restrictions, France has ended all COVID-19 entry requirements as of August 1, 2022.
Visitors to France no longer have to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or recovery, and they are no longer required to take a COVID-19 test prior to their arrival. This essentially means that the entry rules for France are now once again just as they were prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, before you start planning your French vacation with no COVID-19 contingencies at all, there could be a caveat. The French government has put in place the right to implement emergency COVID-19 measures again if a new variant or uptick in case numbers warrants it. These measures would be temporary – lasting a maximum of two months – but could be implemented at any time. So, it’s a good idea to be prepared to present the appropriate COVID-19 documentation, just in case.
These emergency contingencies could be put in place as necessary until January 31, 2023. After that date, it would take an act of French Parliament to implement additional COVID-19 restrictions.
It is recommended that all travelers to France have appropriate international insurance coverage.
While compliant insurance is only legally required if you need a Schengen visa to enter France, all travelers should have the appropriate insurance coverage.
Consider the fact that throughout most of July, fewer than half of all flights to or from Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris were operating on time. A delayed trip can result in major unexpected expenses in regards to meals, accommodations, and ground transportation. Travel insurance with travel delay coverage can help protect you from these unexpected costs. And with flight cancellations and delays continuing globally, this is valuable coverage to have.
It's important to remember that COVID-19 is far from the only medical issue that can befall an international traveler. People were buying travel medical insurance long before COVID-19, and for good reason. No vaccination or booster can protect you from a gastrointestinal infection, broken leg, or any number of other injuries or illnesses. You would never think of going without medical insurance in your home country. Why would you go without it in a foreign land where you may be even more likely to need it?
France is now easier to visit than ever. Just purchase the right international insurance for your needs, and enjoy one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.
