Reuters reports that China’s Foreign Ministry has announced that the requirement for inbound travelers to show COVID-19 PCR test results prior to boarding flights to the country is set to end.

Per the announcement made on April 25, inbound travelers to China will only be required to show COVID-19 rapid antigen test results taken no more than 48 hours prior to boarding their flight. This new guidance is set to take effect on flights starting April 29.

Currently, China requires visitors from certain countries to show COVID-19 PCR test results prior to flying. This requirement will continue until April 29, after which all inbound travelers will only need to submit their rapid antigen test results.

Is Travel Insurance Required for China?

There is no legal mandate for inbound visitors to China to have travel insurance coverage; but proper coverage is something all visitors should consider purchasing.

Think about the prospect of getting sick or hurt outside your home country. Even if you can get proper medical treatment, you will still have to pay for it somehow. Hospitals in China are not free for visitors, so you could get stuck with an expensive bill. To avoid being saddled with high medical costs, purchase travel medical insurance. It will allow you to get the best possible medical care available while you’re abroad for a predictable price.

Concerned about the prospect of your trip being cancelled, delayed, or interrupted? It can be quite expensive if it happens, as many of your travel costs must be prepaid, and are not refundable. A travel insurance plan can protect your finances when unexpected difficulties occur, reimbursing you for eligible costs.
