Q:I'm a UK expat, age 59, living and working in the US on a green card, intending to remain here until about age 68. My company recently terminated a full international medical insurance policy that also provided medical evacuation and mortal remains repatriation to home country, replacing it with a US-only health insurance package. However, my domicile and home country is and will always be the UK. So I'm looking to cover the costs of evacuation/remains (for me and my wife) out of my own pocket, provided that it is affordable. Because I have US health insurance coverage, I do not need any of the in-US medical coverage of a full package. All I require is medical evacuation in the event of life-changing illness or injury (which would likely be better managed in the UK due to proximity of friends and family), and repatriation of mortal remains should one or both of us die while living/working in the US.

A:
Unfortunately, there is no repatriation/medical evacuation plan that you can purchase for this scenario since your home country is the US. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I plan to purchase fixed coverage plan for my parents who will come to USA to visit us. There is one point I still don`t understand. I will choose $50 deduction. I understood that if they visit a doctor and will pay $50 first, and the rest of the expense will be reimbursement by insurance. How about the medicine. For example, the doctor gives me a Prescription Drug which will cost $1000. How much I need pay for my portion?

A:
We provide many fixed coverage plans. Which fixed coverage plan are you planning to take? Prescription drugs coverage is vary from plan to plan. But most of the plan after the deductible (doesn't matter if it's for dr. visit or any medical expense) plan will pay fixed amount for prescription drugs. It may vary from $150-$250 per incident. There is no separate deductible for the prescription drugs. Please look at the major differences between fixed and comprehensive plans below: Fixed vs. Comprehensive Please feel free to contact us if you need any further clarification.

Q:My husband and I are going to California. We are Italian Citizens and residents of Germany. Is it possible to take out a policy with you? I am looking for a plan which can guarantee a direct payment instead of a reimbursement.

A:
Most of our comprehensive plans participate in the PPO network. So the provider send the bill directly but sometimes some providers may ask you to pay upfront. For pharmacy, short term plans do not have any PPO network so you have to pay first then file the claim for reimbursement. If you need major hospitalization or surgeries, hospital sends bill directly. I have included a link to quote visitors plans below: Visitors To The USA Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Q:I am wandering if you can issue a 1095-A form with information of insurance status for a tax purpose. Please let me know,

A:
No, plans for students are not going to offer the tax form since the plans are not ACA compliant. You will need to check with the university to find out what requirements they have for students. If the University doesn't have any requirement then any plan in the F1/F2 section will be appropriate /international-student-insurance/ If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.
