Q:My parents are starting from India on April 25th and again starting back from USA on Oct 14th and reaching India on Oct 15th. The policy period is from April 25th to Oct 15th. Is that correct or should it be till Oct 14th? I am planning on purchasing the Atlas America plan for them

A:
The plans are based on EST in the U.S. Even though they will reach India on October 15 you will need to enter the coverage dates of the policies based on the Eastern Standard Time in the U.S. If it is October 15 in India, but October 14 in U.S. based on EST, then you will select a coverage end date of October 14,2018. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Q:I am planning to purchase health insurance for my Parents who will be travelling to US from India starting April 25th. They are reaching Rhode Island first and will reach Washington state on June 20th. Can I buy Atlas American insurance for the next 6 months? I am concerned about the Geographic restriction.

A:
The Atlas America state restriction for Washington states the insured cannot be physically located in Washington at the time of purchase. As you long as you purchase the insurance while your parents are outside of Washington, the plan will provide coverage to them in Washington as well as Rhode Island. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:I reside in Germantown, in the state of Maryland. My mother is coming to visit me from India, this week. She will stay for 6 months. I was looking at different medical insurances for her and came across Atlas America. But it had a clause which stated "Can not be purchased if visitor is physically not located in the state of Maryland (MD), Washington (WA), or New York (NY)" Does it mean that this insurance is not valid in Maryland? Please let me know as soon as possible so that I can to look for other options quickly as she is travelling in 4 days.

A:
The restriction is that the insured person (your mother) can not be physically located in the state of Maryland at the time of purchase. Therefore, you should purchase it before she arrives in the US. Your mother can definitely go to doctors or hospitals in Maryland, once she is here. You can purchase it online here.
