Q:my daughter will be studying at Roger Williams University (RWU) in Rhode, Island. She's a dual US/Italian citizen usually living in Rome, so we don't have ACA compatible insurance for the United States. I think the price of the policy offered by the university is too expensive so I'd like a price quote from your company. Italy guarantees reimbursement of medical costs while studying abroad, but we needs a policy for regular and emergency medical care while she's at college.

A:
We would be glad to assist. However, because your daughter has dual citizenship, and one of those citizenships is U.S., for all insurance purposes, she is considered a U.S. citizen first. Therefore, she is eligible for domestic insurance, including the domestic insurance plan offered through the university which is ACA compliant. Her being eligible for domestic, ACA compliant insurance, makes her ineligible for any other type of insurance, including the plans we offer that are not ACA compliant. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I have had bought travel insurance from "insubuy" in past but luckily never had to use it. I have a question related to insurance for my parents. My father had bypass surgery in past and is doing great. When i buy insurance from him, are emergencies cover with now new clause of "Acute onset of pre-existing condition"? Last time when i bought insurance for them, this wasn't part of the plan so wanted to check what gets covered and what not. If there is an emergency, will be be able to seek medical attention?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The acute onset of a pre-exiting coverage has been offered in select plans for many years. The acute onset of a pre-existing condition coverage is meant to cover a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a pre-existing condition that occurs spontaneously without any advance warning and requires care within 24 hours of the symptoms.

Q:hello, i have taken an student plan but is there anyway i can update my plan to higher.

A:
We would be glad to assist. We would need you to provide your policy certificate # to confirm and verify your plan and coverage. If the policy is not yet active, some plans will allow for policy maximum changes, before the start date, however, if the policy is already active, no changes can be made. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
