Q:Your FAQ says a lot of policies mention acute pre-existing medical cover, does that mean something such as an epileptic fit that requires hospitalization would be something that is considered acute? And possibly if something happened if someone had a twisted bowel before travel and something happened during the holiday would it be covered if it required a hospital visit?

A:
We would be glad to advise. An epileptic is expected to have seizures. An acute onset is something that would be unexpected. However, it would be determined at the time of the claim based on the attending physician's report. There is not a way to know ahead of time if something would be covered as the medical reports are what explain what happened at the time of incident. The answers the claims department needs to determine coverage would be in the medical reports. Because visitor coverage does not cover pre-existing conditions, we do recommend to our customers plans with the acute onset benefit as the possibility of coverage is better than no coverage at all. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I'm here on a J1-visa (valid until April 2019) working with research at a university. I have an insurance from back home that is valid until April 2019. My stay will be extended for some months but I can't extend my insurance from home but I understand that you can help me with that and I have seen offers and quotes on your homepage. It says on your home page that I can only buy this insurance if I have a valid J1-visa. I have a valid visa right now but it ends in mid-April. I will however get a new DS-2019 form from the university so I can legally stay and work in the US for the coming months. It does not make sense to fly to Europe and show the DS-2019 at an embassy so I can get a new J1 visa since I don't need it for my stay (I only need the visa if I leave US and enter back during these months, which I will not do). My question therefore is. Can I apply for an Insurance even if I don't have a valid J1-visa in my passport but a valid DS-2019 form that allows me to legally be in the US and legally work here? Your "rules" says valid J1-visa but maybe you mean valid DS-2019 since that is the form needed to legally be and work here in the US, the J1-visa is only when you enter into the US (and I am already here).

A:
You are eligible to purchase the plans since you will be in the US legally. Please look at our J visa insurance section.

Q:I am a US Citizen, currently residing between The Netherlands & Armenia for the past year. I am wanting to visit the US for 2 months. Is there any restriction on having to be a certain distance away from my US home address? Some insurance companies specify having to be 100 miles away?

A:
The Patriot America Plus and Patriot America plans have virtually the same benefits with the exception of one benefit. The Patriot America Plus plan offers coverage for an Acute onset of a preexisting conditions which the Patriot America plan does not. You can use the following link to review more information about this benefit: Acute Onset FAQ Being that you are a United States citizen residing outside of the USA you would be more than 100 miles away from your home country. So this would qualify you for either plan. If you need any additional assistance please contact our office.

Q:I am a US Citizen, currently residing between The Netherlands & Armenia for the past year. I am wanting to visit the US for 2 months (March 30 - May 30). Would you please recommend the correct products? I am seeing conflicting information for the two plans I'm looking at and am unsure if they cover US citizens visiting the US or not. -Patriot America -Diplomat America -Any other recommendations?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The Patriot America Plus and Diplomat America plans will both cover a United States Citizen coming to the United States for a short visit. So either of these plan options would work in your case. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I'll travel to California in my 8th month of pregnancy. Can you advise how can I buy insurance that will cover child birth costs in local hospital during my stay in California?

A:
We would be glad to advise. There is no plan on the market, that will cover a visitor for maternity, or anything related to pregnancy. Some plans do offer a complications of pregnancy coverage up to 26 weeks, but nothing more. All expenses related to maternity / pregnancy would be paid for directly at the time of services. I have attached a link below for you to review, with more information regarding this topic: Visitor Insurance Pregnancy Coverage If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
