Q:For a visitor to the USA, if they purchase visitor insurance for 364 days, will they still be covered if they make multiple trips to the United States? Or is coverage no longer valid if they leave the USA? For example, coverage desired from July 2023 to July 2024 and the visitor will return home for a few weeks in December 2023 before returning to the USA in January 2024. Thank you!

A:
Most plans do offer Home Country Coverage. Each plan differs in the number of days it will offer and you can see those general rules under the Plan Benefits tab of a policy. The plan that offers the most number of days for a temporary visit back to your home country is the Atlas America plan. It will give you 30 days of home country coverage per 3 months of purchase. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:I have been denied coverage for medically-necessary surgery from my international insurance (Cigna) due to a preexisting condition. Since I am a US citizen (New York), with a NYC address, I am considering purchasing an ACA compliant policy, so I can get the surgery there instead of paying for it in Panama, where I live full time. Can I? Is this allowed?

A:
Unfortunately there is not an insurance we offer that will cover you for any known procedures that you must have. Additionally, we do not offer any plans that are ACA compliant. If you are asking, in general, if this is allowed, we can only advise on plans that we offer. I would suggest speaking with a domestic insurance provider for more information on that. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:which company/companies provide comprehensive visitors insurance plans for a visitor to USA and Canada for a period of about 35 days. required for a couple visiting usa and canada in July august period

A:
Most plans in the Travel to U.S.A. section will cover you anywhere outside your home country. To filter the plans when running a quote, under Coverage Area, you should choose "USA and During Travel" or "International Including USA" to insure that the plans that show up will also cover you in Canada. This will not affect the price of your premium. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:My son who is a US citizen and is 18 yrs of age but currently living with us in India. He is coming to a college in Washington for his studies, I need to get insurance for him, can you advise how do we get it.

A:
As a US citizen going to school in the US, they would have to purchase domestic insurance either through the school they are attending, or on the Medicare Exchange. They would not be eligible for any plans for student or visitors traveling to the US. If you have any additional questions please let us know.
