Q:I am having trouble selecting the right plan for my immigrant parents. They have Green cards and are under 70. My father arrived in the country less than 3 months ago, and has preexisting conditions, so he needs a comprehensive plan that covers acute onset. He does have an address in home country, but he has moved to the US with the intention to stay. My mother arrived more than 2 years ago and has no health issues. Please help us find the best plan. Thanks!

A:
Unfortunately, there are no short term plans for a green card holder that include the Acute Onset benefit or that will cover pre-existing conditions.

Q:Hi my father will be visiting the US for 2 months. He is 82 years old; the maximum coverage I can find online is up to USD 50,000. I would like to have at least 100,000 in coverage for him just in case. Can he buy two insurances so that he can get the extra coverage? Would appreciate your advice and recommendations for insurance.

A:
We would be glad to advise. Because your father is over the age of 80, $50,000 is the maximum amount of coverage available for the comprehensive plans. Because there is only 1 plan that will do so, you cannot purchase 2 of the same plan from the same insurance company to add additional benefit. Also please be advised that all plans for visitors cover new illnesses and new injuries that occur or manifest after the effective date. There are no plans on the market for visitors that cover pre-existing conditions. Some plans do have what is called an Acute onset benefit that can provide coverage in certain emergency situations due to pre-existing conditions based on the definition of acute onset, as well as the attending physicians report. The Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan is the plan that does offer limited acute onset benefits for that age group as well as the 50,000 policy maximum and is the plan we would recommend for an proposed insured who is 82 years of age. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:I am an American living in Spain who travels back to the states quite often for short stays. How many times can I purchase your insurance during a calendar year? I want to avoid not being eligible because I have used the insurance plan for more than 60 days out of the calendar year etc.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. There is no limit to the number of times you can purchase a plan. If you reside in Spain and visit the US you can purchase a plan each time you visit. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I was looking for a visitors insurance last week and it was $100 less than what i am seeing today for the same package, same deductible and same duration .Is there a way for me to get the rate that i saw last week ?

A:
There have not been any rate changes to any policies in the last week so the rates should be the same last week as they are now. The only way the rate would differ is if the criteria is not the same now that you were entering last week. If you have any additional questions please contact our office.

Q:my parents. 69/68 are visiting end of May for 6 months.. my mother has heart conditions, but has a wellness fitness certificate from the doctor. She had the heart condition back in 2010 and nothing after that which affordable insurance would you recommend.

A:
There are two types of plans available, either Fixed or Comprehensive coverage plans. The Fixed coverage plans will pay a fixed amount as per the schedule of benefits. The comprehensive coverage plans will pay a percentage of the cost after the deductible has been met. Based on the information provided we would recommend either the Atlas America or the Patriot America Plus plans. Please view the links provided below to view the plan options and purchase. You may also purchase over the phone by contacting our office at (866) INSUBUY.
