Q:I have one more general question concerning visitors insurance. If the insured person needs health care in the US for a period of time that exceeds the expiration date of the policy, is this person still covered?

A:
If the insured person is still needing coverage and they have a plan that is renewable they need to renew their plan, if not purchase a new policy. Coverage would not be extended beyond the requested expiration date. If you need any additional clarification please contact our office.

Q:Hi, I am a Canadian Citizen and I am soon moving to the US for an employment opportunity. My employer will provide me a health care plan but I need a temporary health insurance to bridge the gap between the day I arrive in the US and the day I start my job 1-2 weeks and get my employer's health care plan. What type of insurance is suitable for that purpose? I first thought that I could take a visitor medical insurance but your website tells me that I cannot take such an insurance if I am resident of the US which I am not at the moment but I will be resident of the US for the duration of the insurance that I want to purchase as I will be moving to the US. Many thanks for your help

A:
If you are awaiting employer insurance you can purchase a plan called Atlas America. This plan will cover any new accidents and new illnesses that happen after the effective date of the policy. This plan will have to be purchased when you arrive into the United States. It cannot be purchased if you are locate in Canada at the time of application.

Q:I'm a international student and 49 years old. I want to have medical insurance. I came here with my son. He is 16 years old and American citizen. Can I insure with my son? If I can, how much is it? Could you send the information by email or text? My English skill is not good

A:
You can't do one application for you and your son because of different citizenship. Is there any insurance requirements from your school that needs to meet? If no, then you can purchase any of the plan from our F1/F2 International Student Insurance section. For your son, we recommend Short Term Insurance.
