Q:I have a question about the medical insurance coverage for OPT students. I have thyroid disorder, which requires me to do routine lab works and get medicine refills every month. I also need to do ultrasounds at half a year interval. Do you provide any medical insurance plans which will cover these expenses?

A:
There are 2 plans that offer some pre-existing coverage benefits after a 6 month waiting period. Those plans would be the Study USA Preferred 500, and the Student Secure Elite and Select plans. Please review the links for you to review the benefits they offer.

Q:I was wondering if your insurance plans covered HIV medications?

A:
Unfortunately, short term plans do not cover pre-existing conditions so the meds would not be covered.

Q:I am the mens soccer coach at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We are looking at alternative insurance policies for our student that are more affordable than what we offer here currently. Our students are between the ages of 18-24. We have certain waiver criteria and I was wondering if you could see if your policies meet our waiver criteria and if we could purchase your insurance policies or if they fall short. Please see below the waiver criteria: 1. The claims administrator of your insurance plan must be based in the United States with a U.S. telephone number and address for submission of claims. 2. The policy is not a traveling policy. 3. The plan provides both emergency and non-emergency health care and mental health benefits within your local NSU campus area. 4. The plan provides inpatient and outpatient mental health care and chemical dependency benefits comparable to the coverage provided by the NSU Student Insurance Plan. 5. The plan provides coverage for prescription medication. 6. The lifetime benefit is unlimited.

A:
Unfortunately, there would not be a plan that we could offer to your students that would meet these requirements. The only one that is not possible to meet this unlimited maximum benefit.
