Q:I recently spoke with someone on the phone regarding for coverage for women who are currently pregnant. According to the representative, the policy would only be valid if the woman got pregnant while the policy was active. The policy would NOT be valid if the woman was pregnant prior (I believe in insurance vernacular that's a "pre-existing condition") to purchase of the policy. I read that "visit USA insurance" and "atlas insurance" offer travelers insurance for women pregnant. In short, I'm double checking if I can get a valid policy from either of these, altas or visit USA (are these subsidiaries of insbuy?) for my pregnant wife.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The Atlas America, and Visit USA Healthcare plans offer a benefit for the complications of pregnancy that occur during the first 26 weeks of pregnancy. Conception can occur either before or after the effective date of the policy. Please use the link provided below to view the plan certificate wording to learn more about this benefit under both plans. Atlas America certificate wording, complications of pregnancy is mentioned on page 28. Visit USA certificate wording, complications of pregnancy is mentioned on page 21.

Q:My father (84) and mother (74) will be visiting us from September 7, 2019 through January 11, 2020. Although neither has any history of stroke or heart disease, we would prefer to get a visitor's insurance plan that covers pre-existing conditions for maximum peace of mind. Possibly looking at USD 50K to USD 75K in coverage value each. Can you suggest some policy options and premiums at the earliest? I'd like to make a purchase decision within the next few days well before they arrive in the United States on the 7th of September.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. There are no visitors insurance plans that will provide coverage for a pre-existing condition, but there are plans that will provide coverage for an acute onset of pre-existing conditions. Based on the information provided we would recommend two different plans for your parents. For your father, we would recommend the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan, and the Atlas America plan for your mother. You may purchase these plans online or over the phone by contacting our office at (866) INSUBUY. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I am an international student currently on OPT on F-1 visa. I am interested in buying health insurance but I would like to know more about pre-existing coverage, routine test coverage (like blood test for vitamin levels, thyroid test) for my plan. Can you please provide details about whether you have health insurance for students on OPT and details about what can be covered under pre-existing conditions?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy. Unfortunately, there are no plans available that will provide coverage for pre-existing conditions, routine doctors' visits, or preventative treatments. The short term health insurance plans available will cover new illnesses, injuries or accidents which occur after the effective date of the policy. Some of the plans will provide coverage for an Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition. Which is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a pre-existing condition that occurs spontaneously, without advance warning is rapidly progressive, and requires urgent care. The Patriot America Plus and Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plans both provide this coverage. Please use the links provided to view the plan details and purchase. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I want to make a plan from Atlas Essential. The total amount is nearly $1054. This is an 11 month package, I can not make a monthly package because of the visa status. Can we divide the price into three or four installment by making the payment with my credit card?

A:
In short term plan buying and paying is same thing. If you want to pay for 3 months. Select end date of the policy after 3m. For eg. ( start date 09/01- end date 11/30) then you will receive reminder by e-mail then you can extend the policy for the duration you want. But if you school is asking for proof of coverage for 11 months you have to pay for 11 months at a time. Please talk to your school on this and feel free to contact us if you need any further clarification.Atlas Essential America

Q:I am a 34 year old female, non-US resident, who currently resides in Saudi Arabia and plan to travel to the US through a J1 Exchange Visitor Visa for a research trainee post which will last a year. I have typed in my details and got a list of available health insurance options. I would like to inquire/confirm if: 1) I am eligible for both the Atlas America plan and Patriot Exchange Plan? 2) Whether both plans fulfill the minimum requirements set by the Department of State for health insurance under J1 visa requirements which state "minimally acceptable insurance is: - Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness - Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000 - Expenses associated with the medical evacuation of the exchange visitor to his or her home country in the amount of $50,000 - A deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness 3)What is the minimum amount I have to choose as the policy maximum in both plans to fulfill the Department of State criteria? 4) Why is the deductible that has to be paid per entire policy period in the Atlas America Plan as opposed to Patriot Exchange plan where the deductible paid seems to be per accident/illness.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy. We are happy to be of assistance. Whichever plans populate after the quote screen are the ones that you would be eligible for with your specific criteria. All the plans found in J1/J2 Visa Insurance will meet the minimum requirements for the J1/J2 visa and it is important to select a minimum of a $100,000 maximum for the plan and a deductible no higher than $500. Should you have additional questions or need further assistance please let us know.
