Q:I am will be travelling to the US for a holiday lasting 23 days later this year. I have been very recently diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. The cancer has spread, but not to any vital organs, and is now being treated. I am otherwise in very good health, and show no signs/symptoms of having cancer. I have consulted three different Doctors about my travel plans and all have advised me I am fit to travel and there are no foreseeable problems. The cancer is not far enough advanced to be making me ill, or in need of any treatment other than the monthly injections I receive. I have been on treatment for just over a month, and already tests show a significant improvement in my situation. I live in the UK, and my existing travel insurance excludes metastatic cancer, but includes everything else. I therefore need insurance to cover the very unlikely chance that something cancer related happens (I can't imagine what, and neither can my Doctors) and I need urgent treatment whilst in the US. The cancer specialist Doctor advised me to get cover from a company in the US. She also commented that if I got hit by a car, or had a fall and broke a bone - an injury that had absolutely nothing to do with my cancer, the hospital, or my existing insurance company might try to blame the injury on the cancer and deny cover, and then I'd be in a very bad situation. Does your "Acute Onset of Pre-Existing Contition" Insurance cover my circumstances?

A:
Unfortunately, there are no plans that will provide coverage for cancer. In most policies, this is listed as an exclusion. The plans will provide coverage for new illnesses, injures or accidents which occur after the effective date of the policy. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I am looking to get health insurance for my year abroad in California. I will be studying at University of California: Irvine. I have attached a document which outlies the requirements for health insurance. Would you be able to give me a quote while satisfying these requirements?

A:
Unfortunately, there are no plans available based on the requirements as you require a plan which is Affordable Care Act compliant. We would recommend purchasing through your University.
