Q:I am an expat dual US/Austrian citizen, my husband is Austrian, and our permanent residence is Austria. We are researching visitors' medical insurance for the US. Austria has a travel warning for the US in place so we can't buy insurance in Austria. My question: does Austria's travel advisory against travel to the US exclude coverage under your plans?

A:
There would be no restriction on coverage due to the travel ban. For yourself we would recommend the Patriot America Plus plan and for your husband we would recommend the Atlas America. Just like other visitor insurance plans, they will cover the new illnesses and injuries that manifest in the body after the effective date of the policy, including COVID-19. They will exclude coverage for pre-existing conditions, preventative and routine care. Should you have further questions or need additional assistance you may call our office at (866) 467-8289.

Q:Travelling from UK (where resident) home to US - NJ - for christmas holiday ( as a US citizen). Does your insurance cover if you contract covid19 and need treatment whist on the plane or after arrival in the US?

A:
The Patriot America Plus plan is fine for a US Citizen visiting the US for a short period and includes coverage for COVID-19 the same as any other new illness should it manifest in the body after the effective date of the policy. Keep in mind the plans are designed to cover the new illnesses and injuries that manifest in the body after the effective date of the plan. They will not cover the pre-existing conditions, preventative or routine care. Should you have additional questions you may call our office at (866) 467-8289.

Q:Is Puerto Rico considered "USA" under the Patriot America Plus Travel Insurance? If yes, are there medical facilities in-network?

A:
Puerto Rico is a US territory and the Patriot America Plus plan would be fine for someone traveling outside their home country to visit. There would be no in-network facilities. Should you have additional questions or need further assistance please call our office at (866) 467-8289.

Q:What is your best covid19 travel insurance package, for a 30 day period while I visit family in Canada? I am 65 years old, a green card holder and California resident. I am a citizen of the United Kingdom. No Canadian citizenship.

A:
You can run quotes for those plans here: /covid19-travel-medical-insurance/ The plans will cover medically necessary treatment for Covid-19 if contracted after the effective date of the policy. The plans will not cover elective testing. We would recommend either the Atlas International plan (if purchased before arriving in Canada), or the Safe Travels Outbound Cost Saver plan. The plans will cover for new illnesses and new injuries that occur or manifest after the effective date. They do not cover things that are preventative, routine, or pre-existing. Some plans do include Acute onset benefits of pre-existing conditions and I have attached the information link below to explain that benefit option. /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ If you have additional questions, please let us know.
