Q:Good Day, I recently started an application for coverage for my husband and myself with the ExchangeGuard Essential option. We are looking for coverage for about 40 days. However, can you confirm that this option covers the US requirements for J1/J2 visas. Also, we have recently started the visa process, and would like to know if we should first acquire the visa before taking out medical insurance. Is the medical aid insurance refundable, should our visas be rejected?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The ExchangeGuard Essential plan will meet the basic requirements needs for the J!/J2 visa. The plan will cover you as long as you have the active visa status in the US. Should you have additional questions you may call our office at +1 (866) 467-8289.

Q:My fiance arrived to the US on a K1 visa a week ago and needs to see an eye doctor for new symptoms that have developed. However, we have not gotten married yet so I can't put her on my domestic insurance plan. I'd like to inquire about insurance plans for her while she is my fiance, until she gets her permanent residency status.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Unfortunately, there is no plan available that will allow for coverage for your situation. They plans will typically exclude the coverage for anything related to eye care and are designed to cover the new things that manifest in the body after the effective date of the policy. They exclude the coverage for pre-existing conditions, preventative and routine care. Should you be interested in getting temporary medical insurance until her domestic plan starts, you may view the available plans here.

Q:Now that the CDC has issued an order requiring a Covid-19 negative PCR test in order to enter the US (effective January 26th), what coverage would I have if I tested positive and was forced to quarantine in the country I am visiting? Is there any coverage for the cost of staying there for 10-14 days or however long it takes to get a negative test?

A:
For non-US residents that need quarantine coverage, there is currently no such insurance plan available. However, you can purchase /covid19-travel-medical-insurance/ that would cover medically necessary expenses for COVID-19, just like any other new sickness that occur after the effective date of the policy.
