Q:I am diabetic. If I run out of my regular medication can I buy them in the USA? Will the insurance cover the cost of those medicines?

A:
If you are needing additional medication for your pre-existing condition, you may certainly seek medical attention within the United States. Unfortunately, the plans available will only offer the coverage for the new illnesses and injuries that manifest in the body after the effective date. You will have to pay out of pocket for the expenses related to such coverage. Should you have additional questions you may call our office at +1 (866) 467-8289

Q:My safe travels voyager insurance with coverage for my trip to Costa Rica started on December 3, 2020 and expired on Feb. 16, 2021. It was a 76 day policy. I am still in Costa Rica and am exempt from leaving because my residency application is in process. Can I extend the policy now?

A:
Unfortunately, there would be no way to extend an expired policy and you will be unable to purchase a new one since you are already located in Costa Rica. You will have to purchase the plan offered through the Costa Rican government. Should you have additional questions please let us know.
