Q:Protection america Drug discount card Hi, I am planning to buy medical insurance for my mom who is visiting in a week. I collected informations through some websites. My mom is having asthma complaint and she takes regular inhaling medicines for that. per week she needs to buy 3 to 4 inhaling rotacaps. Nothing other than major. All i am looking for is the insurance which should cover the unexpected illnessemergency + her daily pharmacy expenses(or with discount). Can you please recommend which insurance is good for my requirement reg velu

A:
There is no insurance plan from any company anywhere that will cover pre-existing conditions for visitors to US even if it is emergency. This has been discussed too many times on this forum. In particular, look at /universal-rx/retail-prescription-prices/ I recommend that she get her asthama medical supply from India before comes to US. Check at /universal-rx/retail-prescription-prices/ whether the rx discount card will provide any discount for the medicines/rotacaps she needs.

Q:Visitor Care Plan Coverage Question I have taken a Visitor Care Insurance (from IMG) for my parents. Under this plan can I visit a doctor to get a Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar check done on my parents? Thanks

A:
No. That would come under pre-existing conditions and/or preventive check ups and they are not covered in any short term insurance plans.

Q:IMG Fixed coverage plan Hi My parents are coming here shortly and planning to stay with me for 6 months. Both of them have a decent health with no existing health problems. I am looking at buying the IMG fixed coverage plans and went through the brochure. I have a few queries that I need your advise. 1. It says an amount $x per coverage of period. Example: Prescription drugs $250 per period of coverage. Physician visits $55 per visit, 10 visits per period of coverage. What is this period of coverage ? If I take insurance for 6 months, is the entire 6 months considered as 1 period of coverage ? If 6 months is considered as 1 period, then would it make sense to buy it for 1 month and then renew it every month ? 2. Lets say I opt for a deductible of $100. I meet the doctor and do a lab test and buy prescription drugs as recommended by the doctor. Is the deductible $100 for all three(Doctor, test & drug) or should I pay deductible $100 for each of them ? 3. I understand from the website that IMG participates in the First Health PPO Network. Will I get the discounted rate for the fixed coverage plans also ? Thanks in Advance.

A:
1. Period of coverage is for however long you buy the insurance and pay for it upfront. If you buy for 6 months, period of coverage is 6 months. If you buy for 1 month and renew every month, period of coverage is 1 month every time. Those coverages you mention are per period of coverage. However, the deductible is also per period of coverage. Therefore, to maintain the balance, you should purchase for 3 months and then renew for 3 months. 2. Deductible is once for everything. That means, you don't have to pay separate deductible for different things. 3. Yes.

Q:Question about health insurance for permanent resident parents My parents just came to USA as permanent residents. What options do we have for their health insurance? I understand Medicare is not an option. We are looking into Medicaid options with state of Wisconsin but possibly they will not be eligible for that either. What are other programs that can be used to subsidize the high cost of health insurance? Any responses will be appreciated. Thanks

Please look at /new-immigrant-insurance/

Q:Very Few Insurance Coverages for 70+ Hi, 1> I am looking for insurance coverage for my parents (father 70+ and mom 65-69) range. In the past for my in-laws had bought protection america. But looks like for 70+ range the only comprehensive coverage choice is World Med only & protection america is not available. I can take protection america for my mom, can you please provide input about world med & if you could suggest any other insurance plans not on the web site. 2> Also my mom & dad, would want to get dental coverage also, so that if required she/he can get her tooth extracted if it become too painful on her visit (as it is sort of loose already now). Is this possible with protection america /world med? protection america seem to be no covering this sort of a thing ? Please advise on my options. Thank you.

A:
1. For age 70+, Protection America covers maximum up to $50,000. If you put that amount, you will see. For $100,000 for 70+, WorldMed is the best option. In fact, lot of people whose parents are in age group that is similar to your parents choose the combination of WorldMed(Father)/Protection America(Mother) that want $100,000 coverage for each person. WorldMed is a very good plan. 2. Protection America covers $100 in emergency dental. For a more meaningful coverage, consider purchasing Careington, available at /individual-family-dental-plans/ It is $11.95/month for family and one time application fee of $20. It is an excellent dental plan.
