Q:Visitors medical insurance from USA vs India Many people whose relatives are visiting USA are considering purchasing visitors medical insurance either from India or USA. Even though we have had the same information in many different discussion threads and articles on this web site and on our web site for many years, we have reconciled all the information in one easy to read article. You can read the detailed comparison at /visitors-insurance-usa-india-comparison/

I'm going to write this here for everyone to read, PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY, THIS IS BASED ON ACTUAL EXPERIENCE. If you're wondering whether to buy a Fixed Insurance or Comprehensive Insurance plan, consider this; While Fixed Insurance plans are cheaper upfront, there is a reason, and the reason is that they provide practically no coverage in the US. WHY you ask? Simplest answer is that Fixed Insurance plans do NOT have any PPO networks. A PPO network is Preferred Provider Organization, it basically means that any doctor or hospitals who are part of that network have a PRE-NEGOTIATED RATE defined and CANNOT charge more that that rate. WITHOUT A PPO NETWORK, DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS CAN CHARGE ANYTHING THEY LIKE, so a Doctors visit for a Stomach Ache or Ear Infection can cost you $500 and a Broken Arm can cost you $10,000 when you visit a doctor or hospital who is NOT in the PPO network. Fixed coverage plans do NOT have PPO network and only pay minimal amounts ($60 for a doctor visit), it the lack of a PPO network which is the reason why the plan is useless. Spend you money wisely and purchase a Comprehensive plan, there are many good one there, Atlas, Patriot etc. Compare them and make a decision, but remember WHEN BUYING INSURANCE FOR THE USA ALWAYS BUY A PLAN WITH A PPO NETWORK. Otherwise you'll be paying for it for the rest of your life :) NOTE: I'm a consumer who got stung very badly with a Fixed Coverage plan and these are my experiences. I'm not promoting any product or service, just providing my feedback to help folks. I love Insubuy because they are VERY helpful and have GREAT SUPPORT and ARTICLES explaining these issues but I was short sighted to save a few $ and am now paying the price for it.

Q:Insurence Change I am on h4. My hubby employer provides insurance thru Cigna. Employer will provide cigna to family. Now I am in 5 month of my pregnancy. If my hubby changes his employer how to manage insurance. can you through some light in this situation.

A:
Before he joins new employer, you have to make sure that your pregnancy will be covered by the new employer's group health insurance. There is no individual health insurance in market that will cover you if you are already pregnant. Therefore, that is not an option.

Q:Visitor care from IMG - Is it enough? My mother is coming from INDIA to US to staty with us for 5months. She does not have any health issues. She is 48now. Can I go for FIXED or COMPREHENSIVE insurance of 50K? Any suggestions? TIA, SNB

A:
Any fixed coverage plan is never enough. Otherwise, there would be no reason for the same companies to offer you comprehensive coverage plans and charge you more money as no one would buy. It does not matter whether the person is healthy or not. If not healthy, insurance company does not pay for pre-existing conditions anyway. Probability of someone getting into completely new medical condition is the same for everyone at a given age. When that new condition occurs, how much you are covered is what is the difference between fixed and comprehensive coverage plans. Therefore, I recommend everyone to buy only comprehensive coverage plans, available at https://www.insubuy.com Thx for your reply.. I will go with 50K COMP with 2500$deductible.

Q:Insurance for my mom Hello, This is my first post. My parents have been living in the US for 1.5 year. My dad is 54, and my mom is 52 years old. My dad got a job as a normal labor in a factory. He, of course, got insurance. My mom is a housewife. She also got the insurance from my dad (I don't know why cause I'm not living in US). Unfortunately, my dad was lied up, and their insurances have stopped. Now my mom thinks that she gets sick. I advice her to go to see the doctor, but she refuses. She said that she's gonna pay a lot of money because she doesn't have insurance. Could you please tell me if there is any insurance in the US for unemployed people? Or how can my parents get insurance in this situation? Thank you,

A:
I suggest that you read /new-immigrants-medical-insurance-plans/ There is no insurance from any company that will cover pre-existing condition if they are already sick and would like to go to doctor.

Q:Group Insurance for a small Business I'm expecting to move to US and start a business in a year or so and would have at least one partner employee to help me out in the beginning. I'm planning to purchase a group insurance for medical and prescription for this small group of two employees (size is expected to grow over time!). I'm aware that my partner in this operation has a pre-existing medical condition. So would my company qualify for this group medical insurance with two employee families and expenses for pre-existing condition be covered? Thanks for your input:)

A:
That really depends upon what state you would be located in. Whether it is a group insurance or individual insurance, insurance companies look at whether they would benefit from getting your business or not. If giving insurance to your group is going to be overall profitable for them, they would give insurance. Otherwise, they wouldn't. In certain states, they can't reject groups but the premiums may be so high that you can't practically afford to pay the premiums. Is Texas one of the states where insurance providers can't decline group coverage? If not, what states are included in this...just for my knowledge. Thanks for answering this! From what I know, in Texas, group health insurance coverage can't be declined. And insurance company can charge as much as 67% extra premium compared to regular premium.
