Q:Visitor medical insurance-Need suggestion My other is visiting US on Oct 31. Last year I purchased with your sugggestion. Now when I searched in / I am getting one fixed coverage plan only. What about comprehensive plans. Is patriot america plan still availble. Last time I bought that. Please reply at the earliest.

A:
All the plans are still available, including comprehensive coverage plans and Patriot America. If you see only one plan, most likely you chose the policy maximum, $25,000 or $75,000. If you choose $50,000 or $100,000 or something like that, you will see many more plans. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. My parent are visiting USA for 3-4 months. My father is 72yrs and mother is 65yrs.I am really confused seeing too many options of the insurances. I just want a comprehensive coverage with pre existing cover.Don't want to take any risk. I like the Atlas America plan but not sure that it is perfect to buy. Need your advice. Please reply at earliest. Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance for your parents. Atlas America is an excellent visitors insurance plan and currently the most popular one. Please note that no visitors insurance plan from any company covers pre-existing conditions for visitors to the U.S. Atlas America covers up to $15,000 in acute onset of pre-existing conditions for the persons below the age of 70 years and that is the best option available so far. You can confidently purchase it online at /atlasamerica-insurance/ I hope that answers your questions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time or post them here. Thanks for your advice. one more question. My father is 72yrs. So Atlas America won't cover his pre existing problems. Is there any other option for comprehensive insurance for him. If there is a cheaper comprehensive insurance than Atlas America then why should i go for this??Just need a good understanding. Hope u understand my question.I also want you to suggest some other options so that i can compare . This is regarding my father's insurance. For my mom, I will definitely buy Atlas America. There is no comprehensive plan available currently in the market that would cover any form of pre-existing conditions (not even acute onset of pre-existing conditions) for the person age 70 years and above. Therefore, there is no other alternative. You can certainly go for the cheapest comprehensive plan available. We have all major plans available in the U.S. market and they are listed at https://www.insubuy.com Of course, each one of them is a little different from others. Price is not the only factor to look at. Several factors to look for is the deductible, renewability, refund policy, coinsurance, out of pocket maximum, network providers, any additional restrictions in benefits and so on. E.g., if some plan has 90% coinsurance, while other plan has 80% coinsurance, obviously, 90% coinsurance is better. If two plans have 80% coinsurance, but one plan says 80%/20% coinsurance for first $5,000 and the other one says 80%/20% coinsurance for first $10,000, obviously the earlier one is better because coinsurance max out of pocket would be $1,000 vs $2,000 in the later. Therefore, I suggest that you visit https://www.insubuy.com and enter your criteria. You will see all different plans and compare them side by side. You will see major differences side by side. Of course, one benefit may be more important to you than others. That way, you can make the most informed decision. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time or post them here.

Q:query regarding atlas america I have one question regarding atlas america plan. Plan brochure includes following exclusion clause 'Charges for use of emergency room within US for treatment of illness unless patient is directly admitted to the hospital as inpatient for further treatment of that illness ( does not apply to injuries)" Can you please explain this exclusion clause? Does it not cover emergency care at all? or just room charges? Also in comprehensve plan is there cap on every procedure like surgery, hospitalisation? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

A:
If you buy Atlas America and you go to an emergency room, 1. If you have an accident, the eligible charges will be covered normally, just like any other charge. 2. If you have a sickness, and if you are admitted into the hospital, the eligible charges will be covered normally, just like any other charge. 3. However, if you have a sickness and if you are not admitted into the hospital, the eligible treatment charge would be covered but the room charge would not be. This is to avoid the abuse of the emergency room when there is no real emergency. You can read more about it at /what-is-visitors-insurance/ You can purchase Atlas America insurance online at /atlas-america-insurance/ If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Temporary medical Insurance Info requested I am a healthy 37 yr old US Citizen male that now resides in India. I will be visiting the US between Dec 6th and Dec 23rd. What would you recommend me from coverage point of view. Can you please send me and link or info based on yr experience. Thank you,

A:
I am assuming that you permanently live in India (that is, at least for the last 6 months) and you are planning to go back to live in India after your short trip to the U.S. In that case, you can buy either Liaison Continent or Liaisom Majestic Insurance. /safe-travels-usa-comprehensive-insurance/ /atlasamerica-insurance/ Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for the prompt reply. I live permanently in India, but I recently made a trip for 4 weeks to the US and have returned back to India.. I travel for short term business purpose trips. I will be returning back to India on Dec 23rd from the US again. As long as the country of residence is not the U.S., it is fine. That is, if you spend less than 6 months in the U.S. in a year, that is fine. I am kind of concerned with that 6 months factor as I travel regularly for days/weeks visit to US. Considering that what would be a safe bet for me to proceed with in terms of getting coverage? Thanks, You will have to first define your country of residence. Is it India or the U.S.? If U.S., what state are you residence of and what is your zip code? India is my country of residence but I make frequent trips like almost every month for couple of weeks to meet clients. This time I plan to be in 15106 in PA for 3 weeks. Thanks. As long as your permanent country of residence is outside the U.S. and you spend more than 6 months outside the U.S., you can buy Liaison Continent or Liaison Majestic up to the maximum 180 days in a year. If you spend more time in the U.S. than outside the U.S., then your country of residence may be the U.S. and you will be considered U.S. resident. Therefore, the insurance plans would be different. They would be domestic insurance and not travel insurance. Oh ok.. So if I wanted to take insurance for 3 weeks, would I be able to get something that you can recommend? /safe-travels-usa-comprehensive-insurance/ or /atlasamerica-insurance/ sorry for not being clear. I was looking for recommendation consindering me as a resident of US to avoid any issues later on. Please call me.

A:
Please look at Atlas International insurance. You should purchase it with the optional 'Sports Rider Coverage'. /atlas-international-insurance/ I did look up. It does not cover over 4500 meters or if we have to use ropes. Please look at /atlas-international/travel-health-insurance/ If you are looking at Exclusion (b), that is what you get by default. Once you get the optional sports rider, that exclusion is removed. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I checked Spot Rider Coverage and I got: 19. Injury resulting from participation in the following activities: Amateur Athletics, Contact Sports, and professional sports or athletic activities. Non-contact and non-organized/non-sanctioned amateur sports or athletic activities engaged in by the Member solely for leisure, recreational, entertainment or fitness purposes are not excluded except the following which are excluded: Mountaineering where a reasonably prudent person would use ropes or guides or at elevations of 4,500 meters or higher. Aviation, except when traveling solely as a passenger in a commercial aircraft. Hang gliding, sky diving, parachuting or bungee jumping; Snow skiing or snowboarding, except for recreational downhill and/or cross-country snow skiing or snowboarding (no cover provided whilst skiing away from prepared and marked in-bound territories and/or against the advice of the local ski school or local authoritative body); Racing by any animal or motorized vehicle; and spelunking; and subaqua pursuits involving underwater breathing apparatus unless NAUI/PADI certified, accompanied by a certified instructor, and at depths of less than 10 meters; jet skiing; and any other sport or activity which is undertaken for thrill seeking and exposes you to abnormal risk of injury Yes, that is what I am referring to as well. That is what you get by default. Once you buy the sports rider, that exclusion is removed. Look at /hccmis/atlas-america/description-visitors-insurance.pdf Within that #28 is the exclusion you get by default. (Page 10) Then read on Page 14, Hazardous Sports Rider and see what get replaced in place of #28. I hope that claries it. I feel uncomfortable to pay for a package that has this exclusion. How do I know if I clicked the right button and did not end up paying for the wrong package. Thank you. I will have to look for some were else where condition are specified clearly and are suitable for my purpose. It is really up to you what you like to do. However, I can tell you that we are nation's leading brokerage firm for international travel medical insurance and offer all major products available in the market. And most other insurance plans would exclude mountainerring above 4500 meters, except Atlas International Insurance with Hazardous Sports rider. Please look at our sample application at /atlas-international-insurance/ Look at # 7 within that. It is 'No' by default. You have to change it to 'Yes' while applying at /atlas-international/ Additionally, if you like, once you purchase the insurance, you can give me the certificate number and I can tell you whether you have purchased correct package or not. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Travel Medical Insurance for Skiing in Italy I have never bought trip insurance or travel medical insurance. I have spent a lot of time researching options for Travel Medical Insurance and really like the Atlas International Heath Insurance plan. I'd like to buy a policy for several upcoming trips to Italy, but have some questions. Our first trip is Feb 10 - Mar 14. In the 32 days, we will be in Florence, skiing in the Dolomites for a week, a week in Venice, and back to Florence. Because we will be skiing, my primary questions have to do with both medical services and emergency medical evacuation. By the way, my wife and I are both members of the US National Ski Patrol, so we know a lot about treating ski/snowboard injuries and transporting people to the next level of care. Friends who have skied in Europe have all recommended that we get insurance because ski patrol there charge for their services. My questions are: Would services provided within the "ski area" by the "ski patrol" be covered services, as they charge for such first responder/first aid services in Europe. These services may be required to get a patient to the next level of care? If emergency medical transport is required, would the use of, and charges associated with, a helicopter, be covered under the emergency medical transport provisions of the policy? This would only be the case in a remote portion of the "ski area" or off piste, or if the trauma was massive head, neck or back injury or other massive trauma that made it necessary to go above the use of a local ambulance. Could also happen in a transportation accident by car, rail, etc. Does the policy, cover local ambulance and medical services in the emergency room with subsequent discharge without a stay as an inpatient in the hospital? Does emergency medical transport have to be approved in advance? Even if the injuries on the scene are life threatening? Thanks for your assistance.

A:
Please find the specific answers to your questions below. You can purchase Atlas International Insurance online at Atlas International Insurance. Our Atlas International plan with a Hazardous Sports rider does provide coverage for skiing accidents. In regards to your specific questions: Would services provided within the "ski area" by the "ski patrol" be covered services, as they charge for such first responder/first aid services in Europe. These services may be required to get a patient to the next level of care? --Yes, first responder medical aid is covered under the policy up to usual, reasonable and customary charges in the event of an eligible accident. --Cases that require a member to be transported off of a mountain or from a remote area to a hospital are covered under the local ambulance benefit--as long as the injury results in hospitalization as inpatient. The emergency medical evacuation benefit is only used in situations where a client is transported from one hospital to another. Now, if it is determined that your client cannot receive proper care from the initial hospital following their transport from the mountain, we will use the emergency medical evacuation benefit to get them to the closest facility to receive such care. Does the policy, cover local ambulance and medical services in the emergency room with subsequent discharge without a stay as an inpatient in the hospital? --The local ambulance benefit is only provided when a covered illness or injury results in hospitalization as inpatient. Also, emergency room visits will not be covered for an illness if the client is not directly admitted as an inpatient--this stipulation does not pertain to accidents. Does emergency medical transport have to be approved in advance? Even if the injuries on the scene are life threatening? --Emergency medical evacuations must be pre-approved and coordinated through our office. Again, transport from the scene to the initial hospital facility are provided under the local ambulance benefit if the member is admitted as an inpatient. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
