Q:Good morning. I am a US citizen who lives and works in Greece. I will be visiting the US with my family which includes, my wife who is a Greek citizen and my son who was born in Greece but has a US passport. I want to make sure when I am purchasing travel health insurance that it will cover al three of us. My concern is that we have different nationalities. The first question is about our nationality and I am only able to select one nationality.

A:
You will need to purchase visitors insurance separately since the insureds will have different countries of citizenship. The premium cost is based on the ages of the insureds, and the travel dates so the overall cost for your family will remain the same. If you have any additional questions or need further help, please contact our office at +1 (866) INSUBUY 467-8289.

Q:Hi, my parents are planning to visit me in the US in the near term. My father (age 70 years) underwent heart surgery 4 years back and is on regular medication. I need a plan that would cover him for acute/sudden onset of pre-existing conditions in addition to regular health coverage. Please suggest.

A:
Visitors Insurance plans are primarily designed to cover new illnesses, injuries or accidents that exist in the body or occur after the effective date. Some plans will include coverage for acute onset of pre-existing conditions. Some popular plans for this age group that have this benefit are the Atlas America, and Safe Travels USA Comprehensive. If you'd like a plan that provides coverage for pre-existing conditions, then you may view the Visitors Protect. This plan will include coverage for pre-existing conditions as long as the insured is not traveling for the sole purpose of obtaining medical treatment, is medically fit to travel, and the plan must be purchased prior to them leaving their home country.

Q:My daughter is going to join a missionary organisation, YWAM in Kona, Hawaii. She will live there for 6 months and then move to live in Papua New Guinea. She will probably come and go between Papua New Guinea and Hawaii. What type of medical insurance does she need?

A:
We would need additional information to determine what plans would be available to your daughter. We would need to know what your daughters country of residence is, if the U.S., what state she resides in, and if the organization has any requirements of coverage they want met. Also, you stated she will go live in Pappa New Guinea. Can you clarify if you are stating that will be her new country of residence going forward? If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
