Q:J1 and maternity insurance What would happen if my wife get pregnant during the time we are there in US? Is there any insurance to cover this kind of situation?

A:
What type of visa will you be coming to the US on? by J1. Visiting scholar. i have plan to stay there for 9- 10 months. There are plans that cover maternity for J1/J2 but the pregnancy would have to be after the policy effective date and in some cases would require a waiting period before coverage would begin. You would also have to make sure that any plan you choose meets any requirements set by your sponsor. If you have any requirements that need to be met please forward those requirements as a PDF attachment and then we can recommend a plan.

Q:J1 and J2 Insurance questions Dear Sir, dear Madam, I am on J1-Visa (started August 1, 2015, country of provenience: Italy, country of residence: Germany) as visiting assistant Professor at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and my family (wife, 34, two daughters, respectively 4 and 2, all on a J2-Visa, all with German passport and resident in Germany) accompanies me. Until April 30 we will be covered by the medical insurance of the University of Notre Dame. However we will stay until August 15, so we are looking for alternatives to COBRA from May 1 to August 15. The compliance form of UND states the following requirements for a medical insurance: I understand that the Federal Regulations governing the J-1 visa program require that J-1 visa holders and their J-2 dependents carry insurance coverage that meets certain requirements which are set out in the federal regulations. At least $100,000 per person per accident or illness; at least $25,000 for repatriation of remains; at least $50,000 for medical evacuation to the home country; and a deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness. Co-insurance may not exceed 25% payable by the Exchange Visitor or sponsor. Acceptable coverage may not exclude risk inherent in the activities of your Exchange Visitor program. The company providing the insurance coverage must have an A.M. Best rating of ?A-? or above, an Insurance Solvency International, Ltd., (ISI) rating of ?A-1? or above, a Standard & Poor?s Claims-paying Ability rating of ?A-? or above, or a Weiss Research, Inc. rating of ?B+? or above; or backed by the full faith and credit of the government of the exchange visitor?s home country; or offered through or underwritten by a federally qualified Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) or eligible Competitive Medical Plan (CMP) as determined by the Health Care Financing Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Is there any plan in your offer which complies with these regulations and how high would the monthly premium be? Thank you very much for your help.

Q:I would like to buy travel insurance for my mother in law who is visiting from India next month. I wanted to take the same plan that I took last time, but notice the price went up. If I do month by month, can you set up automatic renewals in your system so that it will charge me every month, or Do I need to log in each month and renew? I need the insurance for 6 months. My mother in law's age is 60 years and the state will be South Carolina. We took Patriot America last time and would like to do the same. Can I sign up for two months to start with and then renew for another two months? She will be visiting us for 6 months. I got a quote of $850 for that insurance for 6 months. Has the price gone up since two years?

A:
Insurance premium based on various factor like age, deductible option and policy max you choose. Most of the plans are renewable and there will be $5 renewal fees. This is a short term policy there is no automatic renewal. You will receive renewal reminder so either you can renew online or give us a call we can renew over the phone. You can purchase Patriot America plan. Earlier it used to cover sudden and unexpected recurrence of pre-ex blow age 65. But that benefit has been removed and new product name is Patriot America Plus and it has acute onset of pre-ex. Below age 70yrs. Please look at Acute Onset of Pre-existing Conditions for more information. If you are not worried about that benefits you can go for Patriot America plan that you had last time. You can also compare these plans at our website. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
