Q:US Medical Insurance for F1 Student from UK My son is travelling to the US on Tuesday 5th Jan. I am looking at purchasing your student medical insurance but have a couple of questions. The website that pointed me to your site suggested I could get his insurance card by email but the application says it needs to come by post. What happens if he needs medical treatment before I get the card and can send it to him? He will be skiing and possibly snowboarding in the US â€" are these activities covered?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. In order to better assist you we will need more information. Can you please advise if these questions are in regards to a specific plan? You may also contact our office at (866) INSUBUY. Hello I was looking at the Patriot exchange Program with the adventure sports rider or the student health advantage standard. He has insurance through school but this only really covers him whilst he is in Tampa and we would like insurance for when he travels. Based on the information provided , adding the adventure sports rider to either plan would allow coverage for recreational skiing and snowboarding. Immediately after purchase you will receive an email confirmation with links to download the ID cards. They physical documentation will be mailed to the address listed on the application and received within 7 to 10 business days. As an F1 student he is eligible to purchase either plan as long as he has not had a previous domestic insurance in the U.S. If so, I would recommend purchasing the Student Secure plan which also provide the sports coverage you are looking for. If you have any additional questions please let us know. Student Secure: /student-secure-insurance/

Q:Currently, I live in the U.S. under J2 Visa due to my husband's job position at the UC Irvine. We have been in the U.S. , California since September 1th 2016. My husband who has J1 Visa received a good deal for his medical insurance from Garnett-Powers offered by the UCI. Since the same health insurance is very expensive for the J-2 Visa holders, I was just wondering if I can apply for the health insurance for 12 month offered by your company. I just found your company in one of the forums where some people have the same situation as us. P.S. According to the UCI, all International Visiting Scholars J1/J2 must meet the insurance policy requirements listed below: 100,000 per accident & illness in medical coverage A deductible not to exceed 500 per accident or illness Coinsurance that does not exceed 25% Medical evacuation coverage must be at least 50,000 Repatriation coverage must be at least 25,000 Pre-existing conditions must be covered by the insurance policy with a waiting period no longer than 12 months. Pre-existing conditions must also have a 100,000 per illness medical coverage. Please note: Policy's with coverage for only Acute onset of pre-existing conditions do not meet this requirement. Carrier must be at least A rated or backed by the full faith and credit of the Exchange Visitor's government Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. You can purchase Patriot Exchange plan but it will have coverage for pre-existing after 12months waiting period only $500. If your school is OK with it then you can purchase Patriot Exchange plan. You can't purchase any other plan only for J2 visa holder. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Q:Travel to USA -- US citizen My son is a US citizen coming to US for his education. His insurance coverage will start from Sep 22nd. So from August 3rd to Sept 22 I need some health insurance for him. I checked and got this on your website 1. Safe travels USA cost saver 2. Liaison continent A 3. Liaison continent B 4. Liaison Majestic The premiums are different -- based on claim settlement efficiency which of the above is better. Please suggest Please note I had purchased insurance via Insubuy for his US travel recently.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. As a U.S. citizen moving back to the United States for studies he is essentially just coming back to his home country. This make him ineligible for any visitors insurance plans as he is not considered to be a visitor. In order to purchase a visitors insurance he has to have plans to leave the country upon entering as it would be a temporary visit. Since he is moving back to the United States the plan that he is eligible for a U.S. citizen for short term insurance is a short term domestic plan. If you would like the provide the state in which he will require coverage we can send plans that he would be eligible for. Thanks for your response. He will be studying in California. Please use the following link to review plan details and generate a quote for coverage. If your require any further assistance please feel to contact our office. HCC Life STM:
