Q:I was planning to buy a visitor health insurance for my mother and aunts who will be visiting USA early next year. However, I was confused about the term "Pre-Existing conditions". My mother and aunts are all either 70 or above and I would like to clarify the following: - Do you consider diabetes and high blood pressure in the category of pre-existing condition or not?. - Can we also include the travelling time in the insurance or will only be valid once the insured person lands/departs USA?

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Insurance for an international visitor usually covers new sickness, injuries or accident that may occur after the effective date of the policy. It does not cover any pre-existing or preventive care. However, some plan provides coverage for acute onset of pre-ex up to age 69 yrs while some plan covers up to age 89yrs. However, the plan which covers acute onset of pre-ex for 70+ has specific exclusion for Cardiac disease and conditions. FAQ on pre-existing at can be found here. Acute onset of pre-ex FAQ is found here. Answer for your questions: 1. Yes. 2. You can cover the travelling time by adding one day in the policy. Coverage starts by US EST time. So if they are arriving US on 12/10. You can start the coverage from 12/09 to cover the travelling time. If you provide insured age, travel date and which state do you need coverage will be glad to send the quote by e-mail. Please enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans and you can also compare them side by side. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. While the plans do not cover pre-existing conditions, most plans include coverage for the Acute Onset of pre-existing conditions for visitors under the age of 70. For more information on the Acute onset benefit click here. The plans we would recommend that include the Acute onset benefit up to age 69 are the Atlas America and Patriot America Plus.
