Q:Hello, we are travelling to the US in less than 2 weeks to undergo IVF in California. We have standard travel insurance but would like to inquire about medical insurance should we have any complications from the IVF, for example with the anesthetic or hyper stimulation from the medication that requires a hospital stay. Do any policies cover such a thing and if so could you please send us some information. Thank you

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Unfortunately, there is not a plan on that we can offer to cover the complications that arise from a planned procedure as these are short term medical insurance. Typically these are instances that would require self-pay for an international visitor. If you need any further clarification please feel free to contact our office.

Q:My wife is a US Citizen and we plan to go to India for a year. During the period in case she gets pregnant we would want to come back to deliver the baby in the US. Are there any insurance plans we could purchase that could cover the expenses. I am currently an employee at a US Firm and have health insurance through them but that would terminate once I quit the job to go to India for a year. Would this cover costs in case we want to come back to the U.S. to deliver the baby?

A:
Please take a look at our Expatiate Insurance plans that would work for your specific case. Expatriate plans would allow for coverage as long as the proposed insureds are remaining outside of the United states for at least 6 months out of the year. Some waiting period may apply. Expatriate plans do offer maternity coverage. I would recommend a plan called Global Medical Insurance that would have different levels of coverage that you can select from.
