Q:I am a 39 year old female with 2 kids, 11 and 8 years old. I intend to visit multiple states in US. We are green card holders with advance parole travel documents.

A:
There is a plan called Patriot America Plus that we would recommend for coverage. This plan will cover any new accidents and new illness that occur after the effective date of the policy. Typically in network providers will bill directly but there is not a guarantee as they may require you to pay out of pocket. Larger hospital bills will be bill directly because of the amounts being charged. Please review the FAQ below about direct billing and how it works: In Network Claims FAQ If you need any additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:Hello, I was trying to purchase student health insurance on Insubuy and had some queries. I'm on F1 visa. My dependent child (1.5 yrs old) will be travelling with me and he is a US citizen but the website does not allow me to purchase insurance for my dependent child. Would you be able to help with this on how should I proceed.

A:
If you are needing coverage for a US citizen within the United States you will have to purchase a separate plan for him as you cannot put a US citizen on the same policy as a non us citizen. As a US citizen he is required to have a domestic insurance in accordance with the PPACA. It is recommended that you purchase a plan from your sponsoring organization if possible as there is not a plan that we can offer your son.

Q:I have made a phone call today with your colleague Ryan about health insurance for a J1 visitor and his spouse a dependent. I will be visiting Temple University in Pennsylvania on a J1 visa. Note that I am not a student but a visiting scholar. I would like to know if you could give me a proposal of what health insurance would match my preferences. This would entail a health insurance that would match the minimal criteria set forward by Temple. Yet, I'd like to know what is the "best" insurance that you can offer. Below you will find all my information and the criteria set forward by Temple University. Do note that my spouse and child would arrive later then I do (see below). Ideally, their insurance starts at that point in time. School: Temple University State: Pennsylvania Visa: J1 and dependents on J2 J1- visitor: Arrival date: September 2, 2017 Departure date: August 31, 2017 Date of Birth: September 27, 1985 Nationality: Dutch J2- dependents: Arrival date: December 1, 2017 Departure date: August 31, 2017 Date of Birth: February 27, 1985 Nationality: Dutch Child: Date of Birth: May 30, 2016 Nationality: Dutch Current Requirements Temple University Program participants and their dependents are required to have medical insurance coverage FOR THE DURATION OF THEIR PROGRAM with the following minimum benefits. Item Minimum Amount Medical benefits $100,000 per accident or illness Repatriation of remains $25,000 Medical evacuation $50,000 Deductible per accident or illness Not to exceed $500 An insurance policy secured to fulfill the requirements of this section: (1) May require a waiting period for pre-existing conditions that is reasonable as determined by current industry standards; (2) May include provisions for co-insurance under the terms of which the exchange visitor may be required to pay up to 25% of the covered benefits per accident or illness; and (3) Must not unreasonably exclude coverage for perils inherent to the activities of the exchange program in which the exchange visitor participates. (d) Any policy, plan, or contract secured to fill the above requirements must, at a minimum, be: (1) Underwritten by an insurance corporation having an A.M. Best rating of "A-" or above; a McGraw Hill Financial/Standard & Poor's Claims-paying Ability rating of "A-" or above; a Weiss Research, Inc. rating of "B+" or above; a Fitch Ratings, Inc. rating of "A-" or above; a Moody's Investor Services rating of "A3" or above; or such other rating as the Department of State may from time to time specify; or (2) Backed by the full faith and credit of the government of the exchange visitor's home country; or (3) Part of a health benefits program offered on a group basis to employees or enrolled students by a designated sponsor; or (4) Offered through or underwritten by a federally qualified Health Maintenance Organization or eligible Competitive Medical Plan as determined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Insurance coverage must begin no later than the "Program Begin Date" as noted on their DS-2019 Form and must not end before the effective "Program End Date." Program sponsors are required to notify Exchange Visitors that they may be subject to the requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Any of the plans in the J1/J2 Visa Health Insurance section will meet the requirements listed below. Since you will be purchasing separate plans then I would recommend one of the Atlas plans like the Atlas Exchange or Atlas America. The Atlas plans are family friendly and would offer coverage for a child 0-9 years old free when included on the plan with the parent. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:Insurance company billed directly by the provider or should I file claim ? it's mentioned that 'Direct billing depends on the provider'. In the atlas insurance document (link below), it talks about the process to file claims. "You must submit a claim for any expenses to be paid by us. This includes treatment or services for which you expect the medical provider is to bill us directly. No payments will be made by us without you first submitting a claim." https://www.insubuy.com/hccmis-ppo-network/ How does this work? Assuming the patient goes to a provider (doctor/hospital) who usually bills the insurance company (or whatever third party it is), should I still file a claim? When are we expected to file a claim? Thanks...

A:
You should review international health insurance claims
