Q:Hello I have accepted an overseas job and will no longer maintain residence in the US. My current health insurance will run up June 30. My new health insurance will begin on Aug 1 in Africa. I will be traveling within the us for the summer. Can I buy a visitors plan for my family even tho we all have US passports At the time we will not have a residence in the US. Im just looking for one month of coverage just in the event of an emergency. We will not need any other care.

A:
If you are U.S. citizens, we have one plan that can provide temporary coverage. However, you are stating you will be traveling so the plan would have to be available in all states in which you are traveling. You will be able to see what states the plan is availalbe in and obtain quotes through this link: /short-term-health-insurance/ If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:Hi, Im Rachel, 36, US citizen living a broad.Im pregnant and planning to visit the US this summer. I plan on returning back home to Israel to give birth (returning on my 36 week of pregnancy).I would like to purchase US health insurance that covers my pregnancy for safety, on my visit. Israeli travel insurance doesnt cover pregnancy past week 32.Im healthy & Im having a healthy pregnancy.Ill be traveling to the US for 2 month. (Mid June to mid August).Do you have an insurance coverage that fits my criteria How much does it costThanks so much!

A:
Unfortunately, there is not a plan that will provide coverage for any maternity related expenses for a U.S. citizen. Any related cost would be considered an out of pocket expense. Plans will provide coverage for any new accidents or illnesses that did not exist on the on the effective date of the policy and pregnancy would be considered a pre-existing condition. So anything unrelated to the pregnancy that happened after the policy effective date unrelated to pre-existing conditions is what the plan would cover.

Q:Should I buy the travel insurance before buying my plane ticket? Or in another words, does travel insurance cover the cost that I paid for this trip but before purchasing the insurance? Just speaking of in case of trip gets canceled for visa issue or etc. (ie: booked plane ticket before purchasing a travel insurance. If trip has to cancel because visa got denied, is the plane ticket refundable?)

A:
Trip cancellation insurance cannot be purchased until after your initial trip deposit has been made. Visa issues unfortunately, not considered to be a valid reason for cancellation. In order to be able to recoup cost for this sort of cancellation reason your would have to purchase a plan that offered coverage for Cancel For Any Reason provided you are eligible. You can find these plans in the Travel Insurance section of the website.

Q:The insurance in discussion cover the USA only when was made. My question is regarding the extenson outside USA, in europe. The calculation and insurance will cover autolmatically outised USA

A:
The Atlas America plan will cover someone anywhere in the world outside of their home country. You have listed Brazil as your home country. If that is where you primarly reside meaning it's your country of residence, then yes, you can extend it as it will also provide coverage in Europe as well. However, while this plan can meet most Schengen visa requirements, you have a $250 deductible and the Schengen visa is usually denied if you do not select a $0 deductible. Therefore, we cannot state your current plan would meet Schengen visa requirements. If you would like to get a plan specifically that would be the Schengen visa requirements, you would find those plans here: /schengen-visa-insurance/ If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
