Q:I am a US resident traveling with my baby who is a US citizen, we are currently on vacation in the UK. I would like to buy a travel insurance policy for the remainder of our trip as we have stayed longer than intended. Can you confirm that I am able to buy a policy while already abroad?

A:
You and your child are eligible to purchase insurance even though you are currently on your trip. Please keep in mind these plans are going to cover any new accidents and new illness that occur after the effective date of the policy. Also, as you and your child have different countries of citizenship you will both have to purchase separate plans to in order to obtain coverage. If you need any additional clarification please contact our office.

Q:My daughter and I have held a Patriot America Plus policy purchased through you for several years now. I am currently looking to add my husband on to our policy (or purchase a separate one for him) as his current policy taken out through the college he is studying at will expire shortly. We have been here on F1/2 visas since 2013, and currently have a green card pending so our status is now legally present while green card pending. My husband is both a helicopter and fixed wing pilot, holding all relevant licences, endorsements and a class I medical. Can you please confirm that as long as we include the Adventure Sports Rider optional extra that he will be covered while piloting a non-commercial aircraft?

A:
With your current status pending a green card this plan will no longer be available to your family. If there is a domestic options that yourself, child and your husband are eligible to enroll into that is going to be recommended for coverage . There is a plan called International Major Medical that will offer medical coverage to your family while waiting to receive your green cards. However, this plan will not offer coverage for your husband while he is flying aircrafts. Please feel free to contact our office if you need any additional assistance.
