Q:I am interested in purchasing the Atlas MedEvac insurance plan to fully comply with J1 visa regulations in the US, as a research scholar from Belgium. I have additional health insurance through work. I read that the Atlas MedEvac insurance stops the moment I return to my home country. I am confused which of the following two scenarios that leads to: 1) The insurance stops completely and does not kick in again when I return to the US. Meaning I have to purchase the Atlas MedEvac insurance each time for the duration between each visit to my home country. 2) The insurance is temporarily not active while visiting my home country, but valid again upon return to the US. Meaning I can purchase it for a full year.

A:
The plan would not cover you in your home country but would cover you when you return to the US. Based on the example below #2 would be correct. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I have a few questions regarding your Student Secure Elite Health Insurance Plan. Upon review of the benefits, I see that the plan covers 80% for "Mental & Nervous Disorders" with a 30 day max. for outpatient. I want to clarify the meaning of the 30 day max-- would this include psychiatrist visits throughout the length of the plan? I also want to confirm that this plan offers 80% prescription drug coverage, as cited on the benefits page, and wondering if there are any exceptions to this.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The "Mental & Nervous" disorders benefit is a 30 day max at 80% however, this plan does not cover pre-existing conditions for the first 6 months of the policy, so this would not include coverage routine psychiatrist visits. Beyond the 6 month waiting period "Mental & Nervous" disorders would be covered as any other eligible expense in accordance with the certificate wording. The prescription drug coverage is indeed covered at 80% for Outpatient prescriptions. Medications are covered as they relate to any covered medical expense under the plan. If you need any additional assistance please feel free to contact our office

Q:What plans cover acute onset condition? I am more interested in such plans. Is there a way I can know if the conditions fall under acute onset condition?

A:
The Atlas America Plan includes the Acute Onset benefit. You can find many other plans on our website by entering in the required information and click on get quotes. The plans that include the Acute Onset mention that feature in the details. There is no list of conditions since there are too many variables to consider. A condition would have to meet the definition of the acute onset to be considered for coverage. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.
