Q:I am an American living in the UK as an international student and am travelling to Colorado for the holidays. I was trying to fill in the forms to purchase the Diplomat America insurance policy, but I was confused about the section that says 'home country address'. Am I supposed to put in the address where I am staying in America (parents' address) or my current place of residence in the UK?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. You would put your UK address.

Q:You said the Global Medical Insurance plans were not renewable/extendable; however, I just read their brochure, which says it may be renewed under the Renewal of Coverage section: https://www.insubuy.com/global-medical-insurance/international-health-insurance/ If this is renewable, then claims from the previous policy period would not be considered pre-existing conditions during the new policy period, yes?

A:
You are correct the GMI plan is in a sense renewable as this is considered a long-term plans that is purchased as an annual coverage. As this is an continuous plan anything covered under the first annual year of coverage would not be considered a pre-existing condition under year 2 as it was a covered expense and may require continuous treatment. If you have any additional questions please contact or office.

Q:Our green card interviews are scheduled in Feb 18, now we assume getting the GCs approved after the interview. So, on our visit to the usa in Jul 18, we would be bonafide GC holders - right? (or, have i got it wrong in assuming that) but, we would not be in possession of the physical GC when we land in usa. (albeit our passports would be stamped for GC/permanent residency - right?)

A:
As green card holders there is a plan that you can purchase coming to the United States for a visit called Patriot America Plus. This plan will cover any new accidents and new illness that happen after the effective date of the policy. If you intentions upon your arrival in July change we will need to look into other available options for your family so please make sure your intention in July is for a visit not to stay permanently. You will need to purchase 3 separate plan as all of you will be in the states for different duration as so you will not be able to go on one policy. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:Any plans can recommend for pre-existing condition?

A:
Plans for visitors do not cover pre-existing conditions. There is no plan that you can purchase for that. If they are under the age of 69 then most plans offer coverage for an Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition. Please see the link for more info on the acute onset benefit. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I am coming to the states to City of hope in California for Dr. visit to follow up. I am 64 years Old and I am not sure which plan suits me to cover the payment to the Dr. visit in City of hope. I am coming for one month only in February

A:
There is no plan that will cover a scheduled follow up doctor's appointment. Plans for visitors do not cover pre-existing, preventative, or routine maintenance. The plans will cover for any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date. Please provide your citizenship and the dates you will need coverage and we can send you a quote.
