Q:I plan on purchasing a fixed coverage plan. Since I will be visiting for 6 months I do not intend to carry enough money with me to pay out of pocket for medical expenses. If an accident occurs where I am hospitalized will the charges be cashless? As well as normal sickness, with those expenses be cashless as well? What are the names of the facilities in the United States that will be cashless?

A:
Fixed coverage plans are basic in their coverage and most fixed coverage plans will not provide the convenience of a PPO network which is what provides the benefit of direct billing. If a plan has no PPO network it is up to the provider to decide whether or not they would like to bill directly or require you to pay out of pocket for your visit. Fixed coverage plan also leave you responsible for the majority of the medical bills so even when going to in network providers for the fixed coverage plan than will offer you a PPO network they still may require payment up front as you bear most of the financial responsibility with the plan. For more information about fixed coverage plan and how they work please read the FAQ listed below. Cashless Insurance FAQ We typically, recommend comprehensive plan as these plans will provide you with a PPO network as well as provide typically bill directly with this type of plan. Q:I am looking for an insurance for my uncle & aunt travelling to USA on 13th March 18 for 6 months. They are patient of diabetes and high BP/hypertension. Can you please help me find the correct health coverage for them?

A:
The plans are designed to cove the new accidents and new illness that happen after the effective date of the policy. The plans will not cover pre-existing conditions, routine doctor's visit, immunizations, nor any medications as it relates to medications. Some plans will cover for what is called an Acute Onset of a pre-existing condition. For those under the age of 69 it will be covered up to the chosen policy maximum. For those 70 and above there is one plan that will cover an acute onset of a pre-existing condition up to $25,000. For your uncle there is a plan called Safe Travels USA Comprehensive that would be recommended. For your mother in law there is a plan called Atlas America that would be recommended.

Q:What do the insurance plans for visitors cover?

A:
All plans on the market are going to cover new injuries and illnesses that manifest after the effective date of the policy. There is not a single plan on the market that will cover things such as pre-existing conditions, preventative care or routine maintenance.

Q:My parents are traveling from India to the USA. Please let us know about the hospitals and doctors covered under Maryland State under the Atlas America policy. If we have to take them to the hospital, who pays for the bills? Do we have to pay or the hospital will take care by going through the insurance directly?

A:
With the proposed insureds arriving in the state of Maryland the Atlas America plan will have to be purchased before your aunt arrives into the United States. Both plans participate in the first health PPO network so there is an extensive amount of providers in the area and all across the United States. Typically, in network providers will bill to the insurance directly. So in these cases you will only pay your deductible and the remaining balance would be billed by the provider.
