Question:

age problem in Atlas America Hi, I have many questions about the term of Atlas America. I would appreciate if you answer them all. 1. My dad will be 70 in November. Suppose I buy the Atlas America starting from tomorrow and ending in December, can he be covered for acute onset of pre-existing problem though the whole lifetime of the policy or that this coverage will end in November when he turns 70? 2. Suppose the insured got sick 3 times and the deductible is 100, does he have to pay 100 deductible for each sickness or only once during the lifetime of the policy? 3. If the insured leave usa months before the end of the policy, can he get refund for the rest of the months? 4. If the insured got sick for a non pre-existing problem during the term, and then renew the term for another period, and then he got sick again for the same problem, is the sickness considered to be pre-existing after the term renewed? 5. About charges in ER. If the insured does not have a injury but have a life-critical condition such as heart attack and sent into the ER. Then he got discharged from the ER. Is this covered? Thank you very much for your answers.

Answer:

1. He will be covered for acute onset of pre-existing conditions as long as he below the age of 70 years. 2. Only once. 3. As long as no claims have been submitted since the original effective date, you will get the refund for pro-rated duration minus $25 cancellation fee. 4. No. 5. When go to ER, there are two charges: room charge and the treatment charge. When you go to ER for a sickness for which you are not admitted, the room charge is not covered. However, the treatment charge is covered, as long as it is a covered expense. I hope this answers your questions.
