In response to falling COVID-19 case numbers across the country, Turkey has announced that as of June 1, 2022, all COVID-19 entry requirements for international visitors have ended.

This means that visitors to Turkey will no longer be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, will not be subject to pre-arrival or post-arrival COVID testing, and will not be required to complete any sort of quarantine once they arrive.

Essentially, the rules for entering Turkey have now returned to what they were prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Once you arrive in Turkey, you’ll find most COVID-19 protocols have ended as well. Outside of hospitals, Turkey no longer requires face mask usage, including on public trains, buses, and domestic flights.

However, Turkey has not yet indicated that they are ending their requirement for mandatory travel medical insurance. Insurance that provides coverage for the entirety of the trip is still required for all visitors

This requirement is in place to reduce the amount of unpaid medical bills left by tourists who receive treatment in Turkish hospitals.

However, even without the requirement, travel insurance or travel medical insurance is an important component of any trip to Turkey. It can allow you to receive treatment for illnesses and injuries that occur during your visit with the peace of mind of knowing you will receive a predictable medical bill.

With Turkey now open to all visitors and free of COVID restrictions, all you need to do is dust off your passport, get the right insurance, and get ready to explore the crossroads of Europe and Asia.
