Question:

I want to buy an insurance for my dependents (my wife and my 1 year old child) from 1march to 30 august. I'm an international student and have J1 visa. so my dependents have J2 visa. My program at Rice University, TX have some special criteria for the dependents insurance. One of the requirements is "medical evacuation in the amount of 50.000$". I checked and listed all of the alternatives from your website and would like to purchase one of them. Atlas essential america has a good offer and i want to purchase it. However, I confused with the medical evacuation issue. According to this offer, emergency medical evacuation is 500.000$. I wonder that if I purchase the insurance, will it appropriate to my University's requirements? While the University requirement says "in the amount of 50.000$", but the offer's says medical evacuation 500.000$. Actually I could not understand the amount. I would appreciate if you explain the medical evacuation amount and the differences of the amounts. Additionally, is that insurance cover the pregnancy?

Answer:

Based upon the requirements of your University the Atlas Essential America plan will not meet these requirements.

There is a plan called Exchange Guard Choice would be meet sufficient for your University, however it will not cover maternity. You can review this plan using the link listed below.

If you want a plan that will include maternity coverage you will have to enroll into the plan along with your dependents and conception must happen after the effective date of the policy.
