I am an international student currently on OPT on F-1 visa. I am interested in buying health insurance but I would like to know more about pre-existing coverage, routine test coverage (like blood test for vitamin levels, thyroid test) for my plan. Can you please provide details about whether you have health insurance for students on OPT and details about what can be covered under pre-existing conditions?
Thank you for contacting Insubuy. Unfortunately, there are no plans available that will provide coverage for pre-existing conditions, routine doctors' visits, or preventative treatments. The short term health insurance plans available will cover new illnesses, injuries or accidents which occur after the effective date of the policy. Some of the plans will provide coverage for an Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition. Which is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a pre-existing condition that occurs spontaneously, without advance warning is rapidly progressive, and requires urgent care.
