I just learned that Start Health uses Coris. Therefore, that is the company to avoid, based on numerous experiences of the people.

I already know that government companies use Coris: New India, United, Oriental and National and I should avoid them.

Do not buy any insurance where CORIS America is the broker. My mother took insurance from Oriental Insurance in DEC 2009 and the US brokers are CORIS America. My mother had to be admitted to ER twice and even after 3 months I don't think CORIS has paid the bills. We have either faxed or emailed every bill we received along with all the requested Medical Records. If we call CORIS they say their Indian counterpart has not approved the bill. If we call Oriental which by the way has subcontracted it HERITAGE HEALTH TPA they told us to contact HERITAGE. On contacting HERITAGE either they keep promising that everything will be approved or they say they have not received the bills from CORIS. If we call CORIS they keep putting us on hold or just cut the call. Talk about customer service! We got a bill yesterday from the hospital for ER services in Jan 2010 saying that there is no response from CORIS. This is ridiculous. I am now expecting every single bill to be sent to my address. AVOID CORIS and any other INDIAN insurance companies at all costs. They seem cheap but you pay the price later in time and tension.

I would like to add that I had a wonderful experience with the agent who sold me the policy, Micah, who was very helpful throughout the entire transaction, from the moment he picked up the phone!

Mr. Vipul,

It is not mandatory for US citizen children to buy insurance, but it is highly recommended just in case they get sick or injured while visiting the U.S.

You can consider buying Liaison Majestic plan, eligible to all of you, available at http://www.insubuy.com/liaison-majestic-insurance/ You will find all the information there, and you can make an instant purchase online.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Do you offer anything that covers parents that are non-US citizens (Indian) and children (under 12) that are US citizens? Do the children need to get insurance?

We are all not residing in the US and just visiting for a month.

IMG has reviewed appeal for the claim of Mr. Dilip Iyer's mother, as being discussed earlier here. Upon second review, the decision remains the same.

It is very clear from Mr. Iyer's initial posting itself that medical expenses incurred were clearly due to chronic medical condition that existed before the effective date of the policy, which is pre-existing condition.

Therefore, any medical conditions occuring due to that (such as worsening of that condition etc.) are also considered pre-existing condtion and not covered.

It seems that IMG has very appropriately denied the claim and acted exactly as they should have in this case.

Therefore, this case is now closed.

Dear Mr Khatri,

Thanks for your response. I had got the insurance for your website last year. I will call you tomorrow to discuss further.
My mother had to get an operation done in India and she was completely unable to walk after the incident. I dont quite agree an issue like this can be a deemed pre-existing.
I will call you during your business hours.

Thanks again for your quick response.
Dilip

Dear Mr. Iyer,

I am sorry to hear that you are having a difficulty with your claim.

I absolutely don't have any information about you other than your posting here. But it seems that the claim is for arthiritis. Arthiritis is a chornic and ongoing pre-existing condition and there is no coverage for that in any visitors insurance plan.

However, without looking at the specific details of your case, it would not be possible to tell anything for certain.

Please contact me at (866) INSU-BUY x112 and I would be glad to help you to the best of I can. I would at least get the things going for you, I will get your case assigned to independent third party team of doctors or your case appealed as necessary. We will at least get proper answer for you. (Of course, if the claim is clearly due to pre-existing condition, as determined by all the investigation, there would be no coverage and no body can do anything about it.)
