Hi,
Please do not take Tata AIG health insurance. This is one of the worst insurance carrier I ever experienced. I took 4 months policy for my mother in law when she was visitng USA but because of family
emergency she has to return with in 2 months. I requested TATA to cancel policy since she returned back to India with in 2 months and requested to refund my premium. I provided all required paper work with in a week along with cancellation notice. Guess what Tata AIG took almost 7 months to return my premium adn that too after sending tons of emails. You always receive a default response that case is being process but NO help. I have waited for 7 months and finally I give up and thinking Tirupathi Temples donation.

Please never ever take policy with Tata AIG.

Thanks,Upen

Do not make the mistake of buying their travel policy as they do not fulfil any of the claims. It has been 4 months since my parents left to India and they have not reimbursed a single bill. My parents buy their platinum insurance policy & was assured that even if there is a pre existing condition, that they would get emergency treatment. My father fell sick here, was admitted to the hospital, got diagnosed with cancer & needed emergency life saving measures. Once he was stable, we sent him back to India within 3 months instead of the expected 6 months here. But now they are refusing to pay any of the bills ’cos according to some idiotic doctor my father had a pre existing lung condition which caused bone marrow cancer!! The heights of idiocy! Have been fighting with no results. They just dont care & Here I am being harassed by collections!

ICICI Lombard is the biggest fraud in Travel insurance sector, they will never refund if you fall ill abroad.- It was cashless policy but ICICI denied and told me to keep all the documents for reimbursement

later.

I paid INR 90,000 from my pocket to the Hospital in USA

Later after coming back to India, they made me run for three months to settle the claim and after four months they a send a letter that the claim is rejected.

Really pathetic fellows, with cheap money making habits, should be jailed. Email me to get more details if you are not convinced what I’m saying.. they are just making money out of selling ZERO services, paying back zero money to the claimants

Here are few more things I would like to add

1. Don’t be trapped by the ’’Key benefits’’ items listed on lombard site. The Actual Terms and Conditions are hidden in very small font link on their website, I can bet you can not find this Actual Terms and Policy ’’ in 1 hour.... You will only come to know when you face a problem and customer care will ask you to go thru it.... If you really want go thru their smart document - try to find ’’Policy wordings’’ on the page and it’s in Zip format.. http://www.icicilombard.com/Content/ilom -en/Downloads/PolicyWording/IndividualPol icywordings-new.zip

2. And once you go thru doc. you will realize that these clever fellows has designed the Terms & conditions in such a way that they will never have to pay a single Rupeee but you will surely loose in Lakhs. By any clever means they will bloat a simple fever/injury into a ridiculous joke and will tell that this is not covered due to so and so Condition.

3. They mention on their site ’’Cashless’’ - These "dirty fellows" do not have any local office in US/Canada. They will force you to pay money from your own pocket and make you suffer and deny any claim once your’e back in india.

4. These cheaters will steal or displace your original medical records, if you courier to their Mumbai head Office first make sure you take a scan/xerox before you courier all the original paper. You will loose money in International Calls / follow ups because they will ask more details and so on and finally after a year long chase will reject your claims

I would personally recommend Other good policies from US based companies from my past experience.

Good policy are costlier by 5-10 Rupees / Per day than lombard but you will not have to regret later.

Tarun,

Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance for your relatives. I completely agree that it is preferable to purchase it from the U.S. based company.

As I have mentioned here many times here, most people avoid posting any experience as long as everything worked out normally as they should have. People start complaining and want to be heard and want others to know about it when start having a problem. (It is just human nature. You don't go online everyday and write that your car or phone is working fine. You may write when it is not.)

Regarding the payment question, most of the times, the payments are made directly to the provider (doctor, hospital etc.) In case where they are not made, you can get the reimbursement in your name as the visitor would not have the bank account in the U.S. That is very normal procedure and not a problem as it is very common with everyone who invites visitors to U.S.

If you have any questions for us, please feel free to contact us at any time at (866) INSU-BUY.

I am looking to buy visitor's medical insurance for my parents who will be visiting from India.
I saw a lot of discussion about buying american insurance.
Does anybody have any first hand experience on claim payments done by american insurance companies

Are the payments done on the isured persons name or can be done to person paying the bills.

Thanks

Tarun

To whom it may concern:

I have just gotten off the telephone with an agent working for you; his name is Mr. Bobby C. These days it isn't often that I feel motivated to write and say great things about an agent with which I dealt over the phone..but Mr. Cole was wonderful. He was informed, low-key, very clear and easy to understand...his voice was pleasant and his attitude was helpful!
He is a native English speaker and this also helped us have a perfect transaction!

Thank you for hiring such good people and making it just that much easier to successfully handle business!

Reference to Policy number - 4030/W-369655/00/000 - I have taken an overseas travel policy in Chennai for a travel to US for 6 months. Based on the policy’s refund procedure, I am eligible for a refund of the unused portion (3+ months) because of my returning back to India.

I am a senior citizen, and I had to talk more than 6 times, and Email more than 8 times with the customer service of ICICI Lombard, in vain, and till date I have not received the refund, even after escalating the details to the grievance people as advertised in their website (Three names are mentioned), however, they do not even have professional ethics to respond to customer query.

I am old enough to raise this battle legally, and with such a pathetic customer service, I would strongly not recommened anyone to take any of ICICI Lombard’s policies. In case of any requirements as to details of this case, I would be happy to provide.

I have paid around Rs.19000 in terms of premium amount, on which, almost half of the amount is eligible for refund for non-usage, as per the policy terms. There are no claims or whatsoever against the policy, however, I am getting same responses on different dates from a customer service professional - Pankaj Chettri, that I have claimed an amount of Rs.300USD! (same as in his mail) If this is the case, ICICI should be paying me this money back! However, this cannot happen, as there was no such claim. I am getting a sense that ICICI enters in fradulent transactions similar to what I have quoted above, and probably, some bigger fish is yet unrevealed.

If you want to waste your money, energy and time, get disrepected and cheated, you have to knock at ICICI Lombard for a policy.

I read India Abroad newpaper few months back. This gentleman from NJ bought ICICI LOmbard and came to US. He had a minor heartattack and the bill is around 110k. Now, he is still trying to get in touch with ICICI Lombard to get it reimbursed. As I said, no one is good but American insurance is better than Indian ones. In my parents case, in 2008 my dad had some severe health problems and had to be trated here and we had that from Patriot America. It was decent and enough coverage.

Just buy what works for you.
