Maritime Citizen Insurance is an annually renewable major medical insurance for those who live outside the U.S. most of
the time. It is quite suitable as either yacht crew insurance or marine crew insurance.
Maritime Citizen medical insurance is administered by
HCC Medical Insurance Services (HCCMIS) and is underwritten by
Lloyds of London, rated A "Excellent" by A.M. Best.
Maritime Citizen offers two major classes of coverage: worldwide excluding US/Canada and worldwide including US/Canada.
If you do not need the coverage in US/Canada, that is you are not going to live there or don't want to come there
for treatment, excluding US/Canada would certainly be cheaper. Maritime Citizen insurance is not meant for those
who spend more than six months in the U.S. However, that is not a concern for most of the customers as they spend
most of their time outside the U.S. waters.
You can make an online application on this web site. The application will ask a series of health related questions.
If you have any health problems, the underwriters may decline or restrict to cover that, or your premium may go up
or you may be declined all together.
Even though Maritime Citizen yacht crew insurance is an annually renewable plan, you have the option of paying
annually, quarterly or monthly. Of course, monthly premium will cost overall higher than annual premium.
Maritime Citizen marine crew insurance has the deductible options ranging from $250 to $5,000 and has a lifetime
maximum of $5,000,000.
Once you are approved for the insurance, you will receive the insurance cards and the fulfillment kits in mail shortly.
Maritime Citizen insurance also offers the optional term life insurance as well as dental and sports rider.
