My family and I will be traveling for 6 ½ months to Panama, Costa Rica, Argentina and Chile from Nov 18th to June 2nd. We are interested in a $250 deductible policy with either $50,000 or $100,000 coverage. I have the following questions: we will be returning to the states for 7 days in the middle of the trip, would our coverage continue during this visit? 2) only my husband will continue to have health insurance in the states during this time, if we are hurt or become ill and have to end the trip to have medical care at home would this plan cover us for the full amount of coverage or would it end after we are back in the states? 3) if we aren’t planning on doing anything more hazardous than perhaps horse back riding do we need the hazardous sports rider?

Thanks for your response by email, it is not convenient for me to talk by phone while at work. My biggest concern is whether the coverage will help us if we need to return to the states.

1.
INCIDENTAL HOME COUNTRY COVERAGE:
During the Period of Coverage an insured person may return to their home country for incidental visits up to a cumulative two weeks total, subject to:
The insured person must have left their home country,
The total Period of Coverage must be for a minimum of 30 days, and
The return to the home country may not be taken to receive treatment for an illness or injury incurred while traveling.

2.
You don't require hazardous sports rider if you are not going to be doing any of the hazardous activities mentioned at http://www.insubuy.com/guide/terms.jsp?section=patSports

You can buy Patriot International at http://www.insubuy.com/patriot-international-insurance/

Thank you for your response but this did not answer my question. If I have a $50,000 coverage policy and I break my back and get evacuated for my home country for treatment, would the $50,000 coverage extend to my treatment in the states?

If you read the last sentence in point #1 below, it answers your question
>>>>The return to the home country may not be taken to receive treatment for an illness or injury incurred while traveling.

In other words, answer to your question is No.
