I am not aware of any plan that covers ONLY trip cancellation. It comes as package.
If you want to purchase the trip cancellation insurance, of course, your trip has not yet started. And that means, the visitors insurance is not effective yet.
In that case, you can cancel the visitors insurance for full refund (most plans). And then if you buy Patriot America from visitors insurance section, it has optional trip cancellation available. I think that may be your best option.
Most of the plan you see under Travel --> Trip Insurance category are for US residents going abroad and not for visitors to USA.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

I purchased medical insurance for my parents through the International Medical -> Visitors to USA link. However, I wanted to buy additional trip insurance (should cover only the travel). I tried the Trip Insurance link but that seems to give a package (trip + subsequent medical). How can I buy coverage only for the travel ?

Rajeev,
Answer to that question is not that straightforward. And given a hypothetical scenario, no one can simply say in advance whether it is a pre-existing condition or not.
It all depends upon the unique case and upon the attending physican statement and medical records whether a given condition is pre-existing condition or not. And that can only be determined after it has already happened.
Both Patriot America and Atlas America are excellent insurance plans.

Hundreds of thousands of our customers are in the same situation as yours and no one had any problem so far.
In most cases, you don't need to get any reimbursement because insurance company directly pays the provider.
In cases where it is not possible, you can write in the claim form to make it payable to you, instead of your parents or other relatives.
I hope that clarifies.

Hi,
I would like to know in case of any Claims when reimbursment cheks are issued, these reimbursment checks will be issued on the name of Insured person in Dollars but I think we need NRE or US Bank Account for the checks to be deposited in to and if parents are on travel Visa I am not sure how they can open any NRE or US Bank account as from my understanding Dollar Checks can't be deposited in banks back in India.
Does anyone know how to get around this problem if at all this is the problem or I am missing anything here ?
