No, those are not covered in any visitors insurance plan. Visitors insurance generally covers any new medical conditions, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. None of them are designed to cover regular medical check ups.

Hello Narendra

I am planning to get the $100K($100 deductible) patriot insurance for my in-laws, who will be visiting us later this week. I was wondering, does the 'compherensive coverage plan' from patriot, covers the following:

1. Rgular/annual medical checkup
2. Lab work / Blood work for the item #1

None of that would be covered in any of the plans as it would be considered as pre-existing conditions.

I recommend that your aunt and your father get the enough supplies from India itself before coming to the US.

Hi,

My parents and aunt are planning to visit us in July for about 3.5 months.
My aunt (aged 70 years) recently recovered from a skin disease in India. The doctor has advised her to take some precautions for ensuring that it does not flare up again. In this case,can this be covered under any insurance? (as I understand, this would be considered as a Pre existing health condition).

Also, my father has diabetes, in case we need to visit the doctor here(to get a prescription for insulin injections which he takes daily), will that be covered under any insurance? (or, will this be considered as a pre existing condition as well)

This is nothing but a scam and they will turn your life upside down. I have one relative and 1 friend who both got swindled by non-payment of benefits and claims. Stay away and buy Insurance from a company based in America.

Sri,

Atlas America participates in Hygeia as well as First Health PPO networks. Therefore, as long as the provider recognizes either of them, you are fine. Both the logos would be printed on the id card.

Narendara, For my satisfacation I tried calling a doctor office to get a sense on Hygenia vs first health. They could not recognize Hygenia . The reason I was looking for Hygenia as atlas america covers the pre exisiting upto $15k in case of an onset. The doctor did recognize the first health but the moment I said visitor insurance she backed up a bit. Any comments

If you look into the older experienes (two years or more in past) right here on this web site, you would find several experiences.

I don't see people posting any experiences about them recently. Therefore, I would guess not many people are buying those plans anymore.

My parents are coming in June and we are thinking about buying the plan from United Indian insurance who has tieup with Coris. Can anyone provide some feedback about this insurance?
Pros? Cons?

I couldnt find the claim process or network doctors anywhere on both sites so I am bit confused.

1. Whether you need to buy 6 months insurance or 180 days insurance (or any other duration) depends upon the plan you purchase. Please visit http://www.insubuy.com/visitorinsurance.jsp and enter the start date and end date and it will automatically the duration correctly for the given plan.

Please note that 6 months can have anywhere from 180 to 184 days, depending upon the time of the year in the calendar. But you don't have to worry about all that. You just put the start and the end date.

2. Most insurance plans start from 12.01 AM Eastern Time. Most of the international flight to Europe/USA leave from India in the early morning like 2 AM, 3 AM and at that time it is still the previous day afternoon here on the East coast. Therefore, in order to cover during the travel time also, please have the effective date one day in advance of the travel date.

3. Of course, best and cheap don't go together most of the times. I recommend that you visit http://www.insubuy.com/visitorinsurance.jsp, and compare the plans side by side and decide which one would be most suitable for you.
